Tom Culver was a film and television costumer, cabaret singer, author and passionate collector. He worked on productions including "Murder, She Wrote" and "The Love Boat". His own collection of drawings, photographs and printed treasures spoke to a deep affection for screen and stage history.
This is the ultimate sale for collectors, costume designers, film historians, and dealers. We have an illustrated price sheet covering more than 400 pieces; reach out for the full list, or tell us the artists, productions or types of material you collect. If several pieces catch your eye, we're happy to discuss a group price. We can ship anywhere, with arrangements confirmed before purchase. All pieces are subject to current availability.
Tom also loved cats; the musical and the pet! We have a bounty of figurines, art, and books dedicated to cat lovers! The house is filled with books, records, original paintings, and kitchenwares.
Original costume and fashion renderings include Travis Banton's study of Vincent Price as Charles II for Hudson's Bay (1941); Adele E. Balkan's character designs for The Egyptian (1954); Theadora Van Runkle's vivid Nine Tiger Man sketches; Yvonne Wood studies connected to One-Eyed Jacks (1961) and Casanova's Big Night (1954); and Eduardo Lerchundi's 1949 Francisco Suarez costume study. Other drawings show period dress, stage characters and fashion ideas, sometimes with handwritten notes or original fabric swatches still attached.
The collection also includes The Longest Yard film poster; theatre posters for The Little Prince, On Your Toes and Last Summer at Bluefish Cove; an Anchors Aweigh lobby card; photographs of Lana Turner; and a Peggy Lee portrait inscribed to Tom. There are vintage playbills and theatre programs, movie and entertainment paper, sheet music for songs from Pal Joey, Roberta and Follow the Boys, and illustrated songbooks and folios. Together, the finished images and working materials show both the glamour on screen and the hands-on craft behind it.
